I realized, I haven't said my "see you soon"s XD
Well, I'll be back fully online January of next year, but I'll check in with you all from time to time ^____^ (let's hope internet cafés in Chile still have reasonably cheap prices).
Meanwhile, I'm sorry I didn't write recaps of Supernatural -episodes 3 and 4-... they were so awesome I was left reeling and enjoying them so much it slipped my mind to write the recaps. Sorry.
I'm kinda nervous to do a japanese exam right before traveling... my mind is in packing, not the correct use of the "wo" particle, XD XD XD but I'll give it my best!. Gambarimashoo! Still, I'll have lots of time to study on my own in Chile, since I plan on bringing my books and cds with me XD.
I finished reading all the books I had planned on reading.
Finished Blaze of Memory (suri! LOL! I really thought that was gonna be the first one with a dead heroine, I got all exited since it would have been super dramatic... and then the kids showed up. XD XD XD man, what a surprise!)
And finished reading the Southern Vampire Series (Sookie Stackhouse books).
I LOVE THEM.
GO ERIC! Team Eric Northman all the way.
Dead and Gone: I still can't believe sookie fell for that clearly obvious trap of eric into marrying him. Bill redeemed himself in this book, IMHO, but I still think eric is the vamp for sookie. I'm kind of glad gran-dad Niall is gone though, the Stackhouses sure don't need any more trouble, but I have the sneaking suspicion there are fairies out there who didn't leave the human real and will be taking out their anger on sookie and jason, speaking of family, I wonder how little hunter is doing.
Now that I have to wait like everyone else for the next book (which will be out next year) I kinda want to check out HBO's True Blood. I wanna see what they changed from the books, and feel the overall atmosphere. From the clips I've seen in youtube it seems pretty dark and hot, and I can't stand all the teeny bopper pseudo-vampire stories out there right now. Gimme a good old scary and sexy vampire anytime, never cover them with teen angst and glitter. XD XD XD
Oh well.
See you soon you guys!
Suri, everyone, I'm so sorry I haven't written anything lately...
I still have my excuse, but still, I'm sorry.
You know, it's just that, when the power goes out so much, I just give up and not even turn on momo (my laptop) anymore, it's like a game of catch the mouse, every time I turned it on and went online the electricity went out.
They still haven't fix the problem.
They also announced that they'll cut the power off for 5 hours in december, that means they'll be like 2 hour of power every day and the rest we'll be "in the dark", they say it's because people use more on the holidays, what with the xmas lights and all... but really, man, what a way to ruin it for everyone.
On the bright side, I won't be here in november and december, I'll be in chile, so maybe there I'll be able to find a nice net-cafe, and if it's not too expensive, I'll check back in from time to time XD XD.
So, once again, gomen!
It's alive! Alive!
Yes, I haven't passed away XD, I'm suffering from anita blake withdrawal symptoms, that's all.
Now I have to wait (like all the rest of fans out there) for the next book to come out.
It's sort of weird though, I mean, these are books, not comics, or a tv series, but they're serial, and there seems to be no ending in the near future, I mean, there's so many issues to be resolved, and LKH keeps bringing in new characters (i.e. new men for anita to sleep with XD), so it makes me excited to read what will come next and at the same time it makes me tired that's there's no end to it. XD XD
And please, either get rid of richard or change him because... I just can't take his prima donna attitude anymore. Let's hope now that he's rid of anita's anger he becomes likable again.
Meanwhile, my timing was perfect, just when I finished with the books, himitsu no arashi chan with Mao-chan aired!!!!
Now I can fangirl to my heart's content!!! (well, after I download it that is). And what's this I read? she's gonna be on shukudaikun in october???? OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! dreams do come true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! XD XD XD
On personal news: I'm going to japanese classes. I did my first test, got 98,5/100 on it, I knew what was wrong, it was so stupid, I'm pissed with myself, I could have gotten 100/100, damnit. Still, It's fun. I like it a lot. My sensei is a very nice and fun person. Our goal is to do the official japanese fluency test (in caracas, at the embassy I guess) by next year. Gambarimasu!!!
Twitter-like, since I don't have twitter XD
- Say no to pedigree, the inbreeding is killing the dogs. LITERALLY.
- It's a year later since The L Word ended, but... *yells* they didn't say who killed jenny (if she did die)? WHA~? aaaaargh!
- And, oh shoot. Daniel Henney's upcoming tv series, "Three Rivers", also has Katherine Moenning starring? I'LL DIE ♥♥♥
- If I find a book about the Facial Action Coding System (FACS), I'll friking buy it. So interesting.
- Drama rumors: mao-chan and miura haruma? *cross fingers* aiba-chan in a remake of My Girl? omg *cross fingers again*
The third day was a free day! We got up without hurry, ate breakfast slowly and basically spent the day at the Louvre. XD XD XD
I ran out of batteries and memory so we bought some and another memory stick card.
Anyway, the sun came out that day, but the weather was cool and windy and everything that is nice ♥
We ate lunch at the Carousel, it was yummy, I shopped at L'Occitane and we bought souvenirs at Rue de Rivoli, which is the street we came in through the metro.
We went back to the hotel to rest a little, I mean, we did spend almost the entire day walking XD, then went to the mall and supermarket for some major shopping. I bought two perfumes and make-up at the little sephora there.
Since I don't have twitter I might as well write some in just one go here XD
- The Anna Sui 2009 fall-winter collection is great, I love it all.
- Why do people still use the word "surreal" so much? I hoped it was just one of those word-fads that come and go (like that time when everyone was a "Renascence" man/woman only because they did a few of things at the same time), but it really irks me when people use it for everything, I have the nonsensical feeling that every time someone missuses it the surrealist artists have seizures in their graves.
- Speaking of fashion and word usage, I was watching some fashion show after interviews, and there was some magazine editor and whatnot talking about what she thought of the show, she said it was surreal (yecch), and very Dancing with the Stars... what the hell, I could do a better job than that... she probably doesn't even know that what the do in DwtS is ballroom dancing... god. Which in term reminded me of a certain episode of absolutely fabulous where Patsy was having one of her moments trying to write notes from a fashion show, hilarious, and more so because it probably really is like that ("help me you bitch!" XD XD XD).
- I downloaded the Jeeves and Wooster soundtrack, it's awesome, the rar file had some bonus tracks ripped from the show like: forty seven ginger headed sailors (all the rage at Drones, and with Dog Macintosh as well) XD XD yes that's the name of that one track, anyway, I'm tempted to try and find the books sometime in the future.
- Speaking of which, bro said that HMV is like heaven, tons of movies on sale right now (he bought a lot as gifts for us, thank you bro!!!!!!!!!!!) in london, man... he also told me he spotted "the worst witch" dvd box set pretty cheap but forgot to go buy it, I could cry... oh well.
- Yesteday I put up a new curtain in my room, the one I had before literally desintegrated when put in the washer, anyway, the first one was very thin, this new one is rather thick, meaning my room is like a cave now XD XD XD but it's fine, the tropical sun is great and all, but all year round gets kind of boring and headache inducing.
- Also, I can't wait to watch tonight's (my time) VS arashi, I mean, gackt!?! it's gackt!!!!!! trice babe, it's potential food for "friends" I tell you!!!!!!!!!
- Oh, speaking of singers, in VH1 there was "the top ten all time female singers" on the other day and they showed whitney huston's How will I know, I was all "awwwwwwww" back in the day when she sang, and was normal, before the presence of bobby! hit her life XD XD XD
- Underwolrd rise of the lycans is available for download, but I don't know if I should, I mean, we actually buy vampire movies, specially when cool as the underworld series are (instead of pirated versions or dl I mean) so I'm pretty sure we're gonna buy it someday, but I really want to see it now... decisions decisions decisions LOL.
- Meanwhile, there's a mosquito here, and the bastard has bitten me everywhere, I'll get you mothaf~ I will.
Second day, noon and rest of the day.
After Versailles the bus parks in the Carousel de Louvre, where we're supposed to get some food and shop a little, dad and I just walk around because it was filled with people and it was impossible to eat anything XD, I did call mum on the phone to wish her a happy birthday though.
Then we go on a "panoramic visit" of Paris, which is the bus driving us around to site-see. Which turned out to be great because it was raining a little LOL! The program: Arc de Triomph, Champs Elysees, La Madeleine, Place de la Concorde, The Opera, Louvre, St. Jacques Tower, The Minicipality, Isle de la Cité, Notre Dame, Quartier Latin, Pantheon, La Sorbonne, Luxembourg gardens, Les Invalides, Military School, Champ de Mars (where, due to the dense traffic and the fact that we're behind schedule we make a quick stop à la "japanese" as our tour guide said to take a pic of the Eiffel Tower, go-snap-go back to bus), and a view of the Seine and some bridges.
Pretty awesome.
Then we go back to the hotel and around 7:30 pm we go to Montmartre for a look-see, it's pretty beautiful and we get a good laugh riding along the Moulin Rouge street where all the sex shop are open for business XD XD. At Montmartre I get a little amelié taste watching the carrousel light up, but since the pavement was wet we all decide to go up with the funicular instead of walking the steps.
Up there we look around and we decide to go in one of those little quaint restaurants to eat our first proper meal, LOL! It was yummy!
Afterwards the bus leaves most of the people that paid to watch the Moulin Rouge show and the rest of us go back to the hotel, we got to see the Eiffel Tower lit up at night!!!
Visit to Versailles! We get on the bus and meet out tour guide and all that, then we're off. Versailles is now a town on its own near Paris, high brow, people with money live there, it's sort of the extension in time of what happened when the King established himself there for good and all the french nobility moved to live next to the Palace.
I wondered where exactly was the Osmotheque located, but since our visit was to the Palace I didn't get a chance to look around the town itself.
Anyway, color me impressed. Versailles is majestic, over the top and impressive!!
This is the chapel inside the Palace which is opened to the two floors. Bottom entrance and Top entrance:
Someone's chamber XD:
The King's chamber:
The Queen's chamber:
This is me in the Mirror room:
And a view from there out to the gardens, the king's "back yard":
This is the War Gallery, paintings of Napoleon in all his splendor hang on top, while they set up pictures of recent wars near the floor, in contrast to the paintings, it was interesting seeing real images against the stylized images:
Versailles viewed from the gardens:
And a view of the gardens outside, the extent of it all is lost to the naked eye:
I was pretty excited because it was my first trip across the pond! (even though I'm an old woman now, ha).
Fate started to play with us pretty early on though because at first I was supposed to go with my mother to Scotland and act as her translator and stuff but that trip didn't go through mainly because they didn't give me my passport on time, so that was money down the drain right there, but we didn't want to waste it, so dad said he could take some much needed time off and we could go to europe together. So it was decided.
After some bureaucracy maneuvering for tickets and money to spend (we still came out pretty limited) it was all settled and we booked a 3 countries-tour.
So, here: it's the beginning, our plane at the Simon Bolivar airport waiting for boarding.
Lemme tell you, they checked and re-checked people like there was no tomorrow. We were all inside the plane and the authorities still pulled down people to body check. Insane. It's my personal belief that they got a tip and were looking for drug smugglers. Anyway, the plane took off with 1 and 1/5 hour delay, which would have been fine with us if it wasn't for the fact that we totally lost our ride to our hotel. Thankfully I had checked which hotel it was (with address and phone number) online before going, so we had our info at hand.
We get to Charles de Gaulle, the weather is cool, it's starting to rain a little, but I like it all. We go to the information desk and a very nice and polite girl fixes our dilemma in a heart beat, she sells us train tickets and gives us a map with detailed instructions on how to get to the hotel. It turned out to be super easy!
We end in the Gallieni station on line 3 of the metro where we find out there's a mall right next to our hotel, excelent.
So we have the afternoon free and we decide to go to the Arc de Triomphe by metro. The sun comes out a little, it's perfect for walking and I get my first taste of european monuments!
Walking down the Champs Elysees we find, omg, sephora! XD XD XD
I go in of course, they didn't have Duwop's Lip Venom (shoot) but I try on lots of perfumes, including Serge Luten's Datura Noir which was interesting (I could see myself wearing it for a night at the opera or something) and Her majesty the Rose (which I love because I love all rose based perfumes XD).
Snooping around we find a L'Occitane en Provence and an Annick Goutal store... cool.
And right next to sephora what was it? Guerlain!!!! the mother house. I didn't go in... I got jittery with low-class ebarrasment XD XD but I took a pic outside.
We hang around, taking in the sites, gazing, and then we go back to the hotel but first checking out the supermarket (Auchan) at the mall, we buy our lunch/dinner there, pretty cheap and delicious. And that sets the tone of our whole trip meals, sandwiches here and there, cheap stuff, water, and such XD, we only ate 3 proper meals in the whole trip.
